Bears are mammals that belong to the family Ursidae. They are classified as caniforms, or doglike carnivorans. Bears are found on the continents of North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. The polar bear is considered to be the largest extant species, with adult males weighing 350–700 kilograms and measuring 2.4–3 metres in total length.
